How much does Rombo cost?
Nothing. Rombo is free: no subscription, no account, no ads. Open the page and use it.
Can I use Rombo full screen while driving?
No. The Tesla browser doesn't allow full screen while the car is moving, so that's out of Rombo's hands. You can use it full screen while you're parked.
Can you add feature X?

Why does Rombo disappear when I put the car in reverse?
For the same reason you can't use it full screen while driving: it's a limitation of the Tesla browser, and a web page can't change it.
Can the rev counter go up when I press the accelerator standing still?
Unfortunately not. Rombo can't read the accelerator pedal: the rev counter follows the car's GPS speed, so it only moves when the car does.
Can I shift gears with the steering-wheel buttons?
Not for now. The car keeps those buttons for its own media player and doesn't pass them on to web pages, so Rombo shifts by itself, like an automatic.
Why does the sound lag a little behind the car?
The browser gets a GPS position about once a second. Rombo predicts where your speed is going to hide most of that, but a short delay is normal, especially when you brake or accelerate hard.
Is it a recording?
No. The sound is synthesized while you drive, one firing pulse at a time, and shaped by a model of the exhaust. That's why it never repeats.
Does Rombo track where I go?
No. Your position is only used in the browser, on the car's screen, to work out your speed. It isn't sent anywhere, and there's no account and no cookies. The website only counts visits, anonymously, and the app not even that. More on the privacy page.
The sound stopped when I changed the music or took a call.
The car paused the browser's audio. Tap Tap to resume audio on the screen and Rombo picks up again.
Can I see mph instead of km/h?
Yes: Settings → Video → Speed unit. The 1985 car's dashboard shows both anyway.
Which cars does it work on?
Rombo runs in the Tesla's built-in browser, so it should work in any Tesla whose browser plays sound from web pages. It's tested on a recent version of the browser.
Does it work on a phone?
It might: Rombo only needs location and sound. But it's made for the car's screen, and that's where it's tested.
Is Rombo made by Tesla?
No. It's an independent project and isn't affiliated with Tesla, Inc.
